Apple rapporteras flytta en del av sin tillverkning från Kina till Taiwan på grund av coronaviruset.
En del av tillverkningen av AirPods, iPad och Apple Watch flyttas nu till Taiwan för att undvika att komma efter ytterligare i tillverkningen, då coronaviruset fortsatt påverkar många fabriker i Kina. Tillverkningen av MacBook Pro och Air har flyttats tidigare och nu ansluter fler enheter till den Taiwanesiska produktionskedjan.
Taiwan News rapporterar;
Apple is trying to diversify its supply chain geographically due to the spread of the virus, which has seriously affected the production of Apple products in the communist country. Apple intends to gradually increase the proportion of production in Taiwan while still trying to maintain its cooperation with suppliers on the other side of the strait.
It is estimated that at least one-third of China’s production lines will lay idle in the first quarter of this year, and it would be almost impossible to return to the normal level of production before the end of February. It is also doubtful whether normal production could be resumed within the first ten days of March.
Denna tragiska epidemi sätter spår och hur djupa spåren bli får vi se med tiden men nu rapporteras att under det senaste dygnet har 1 909 smittats och 98 personer har dött, där nästan alla olycksdrabbade är i Kina. Det är ett total på 73 332 smittade och 1 873 döda. Det är hemskt.
Apple gör vad de kan för att få det att fungerar på plats i Kina men tvingas även flytta delar av tillverkningen för att inte förlora mer inkomst och kunna leverera. Flytten kommer hjälpa men kommer inte vara hela lösningen. Uppehållet i Kina kommer resultera att tillverkare världen över kommer få begränsad tillgång till komponenter. Apple kommer inte nå sina uppsatta mål för kvartalet och försäljningen av smartphones förväntas bli den lägsta på fem år, klockor tappa 16% och försäljningen av bärbara datorer förväntas förlora en tredjedel. Så det ser ut att bli en tuff tid för branschen och inte minst för Apple.
